After years of plotting and months of on and off work, I finally finished one of my greatest projects: I built jump standards! With the help and tools of my friend Bob we made my dreams come true. The first set was painted and delivered way back in May 2019. This is when I discovered I really dislike painting. Mostly because my back hurt so much I could hardly think half the time, but also because I’m kinda (really) messy.

The first beautiful batch of jump standards, delivered! May 2019

Then we needed more. I built more. I also made a gate, a few panels, and cut a bunch of replacement feet. Here’s a picture before I dropped them off in November 2019 for my wonderful friends to paint WITHOUT me!! 🧡

the second set: built but not painted. yet. November 2019

People kept being asking why I needed so many standards. I’d pointed out that most jump courses are 9-12 efforts, two of which are oxers. You need at least 11 pairs to set a full course (yes you can be clever and jumps jump two ways, but that’s no fun). Things get broken and who knows when I will get the opportunity to make more. But the best answer is:

so we can do this!
