I’m catching up on all of the events I didn’t post about from 2019 and 2020 so I can start fresh with 2021! Check back to see what we’ve been up to!
Lone Tree Farm has an annual Adult Camp every year. September 2019 was the 25th one as I recall, or maybe 2018 was? Anyway, I was there and it was just as much fun as it always is. Thirty or so women and their horses with good food, wine, camping, swimming in the river, some fun camp games, and some seriously good instructors!
Memorable moments include: the bonfire, and discovering that slow-roasting a marshmallow really is better! Equestrian-themed Pictionary where my doodles are actually useful. The silly “whack the nut” game, which was not played with nuts this year, so I didn’t get a hole-in-one again (I guess I can be happy with winning two years in a row). And hanging out with friends old and new. I am now looking forward to going again this year, if California stays healthy!
Special thanks to my husband Rob, who insisted that I attend horse camp even though he was recovering from an unexpected surgery. I was telling him only hours before I rushed him to the hospital in the middle of the night that the Adult Camp was the apex of my year, the one thing I was looking forward to. His perspective was that he was just going to spend the weekend on the couch with the cats and didn’t want me fussing over him. He’s made a full recovery and I’m once again looking forward to adult camp this year!
